Answers:
I think the conflicting answers are because we don't say "corn flour" in the US!.

What we call "corn starch" is a fine white powder, looks similar to baking powder, that is used to thicken sauces, soups, and gravies!.

What we call "corn meal" is gritty and yellow, more like flour, and is used to make corn bread and to coat foods for frying!.

You definitely DON'T want to use corn meal if the recipe calls for corn starch!. Hope your sweetie gets well soon! =0)Www@FoodAQ@Com

No they are two entirely different things, use cornstarch as there is less chance of lumping and it wont give it the dry flour taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it should be the same thing cornstarch is used for thickening up sauces atc!.!. if it is the same meaning in aussie then i am sure there the same thingWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. The two should be the same!. Cornstarch is used to thicken sauces in the good old USA!.
