Buttermilk Baking Thawing?!

Question: Buttermilk Baking Thawing!?
I want to make something now and need to thaw out my Buttermilk that has been in the freezer for a long time!. What is my best bet!? What should I not do!? I have it in a tupperware sitting in hot water!. can I microwave!? Should I not use it!. I want to make Cornbread!. I have Milk and Distilled White Vinegar!. Can I use the trick of mixing those together to get "buttermilk" for something like Cornbread, or is real buttermilk the option I should use!?

Thank YouWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would just keeping changing the water in your tub every 30 min or so until it is thawed!. Make sure to shake well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Microwave on a low power until melted!. In the future you could just keep a carton of buttermilk powder in the fridge (it lasts for ages) to use instead of buttermilk!. You just add the powder with the dry ingredients (flour, etc) and add water to the wet ingredients!. It's great stuff to have around!. You can find it in the baking aisle of most supermarkets!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would put it in a double boiler!. You want to gently heat it, but not cook it!.

Or you can add a little vinegar to the milk and you'll get a similar result to buttermilk!.

Buttermilk is better, but milk/vinegar is the next best!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
