Answers:
Pot roast is definately the best thing to come out of a crock pot!.

Salt and pepper the roast, brown the roast (you don't have to, but it's better)!. I have a crock pot that I can put right on the stove so I don't have to dirty an extra pan!. If you use a separate pan to brown the meat, remove the meat to the crock pot!.

Add 3 large onions cut in quarters, 6 large stalks of celery cut in big pieces and a handful of baby carrots to the browning pan!. Brown them a little bit and add them to the pot roast!. Again, you don't have to brown the veggies either but it's better!. The dish will be good without browning, just not as good, depends on how much time and effort you have!.

Add a carton of beef stock to the crock pot til it's almost to the top of the roast!. If you browned the roast in a separate pan, deglaze with the stock and then add to the crock pot!. Cook until it's done!. I cook it on high if I'm in a hurry or low if I'm gone all day!. Start it in the morning, it's good to eat when you get home from work!. It should cook at least six hours!.

You can make a thick gravy or serve the juice just the way it is!. You might have to add some boullion to make it taste good!. This recipe is also good with beef cubes (stew meat) you just don't have to cook it as long!.

I serve the roast with potatoes and carrots, you can add them to the crock pot close to the end or cook them separate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

thyme, oregano, sage, comino, celery seed, parsley, chives, bay leaf, cilantro, garlic salt, onion salt, white pepper

depending on the size of the roast, I usually use about a teaspoon of each per pound of roast!. Sometimes I don't use all of them, and sometimes I do!. It just depends on the depth of the herb shelf at the time I get ready to cook and how long it has been since I went to the regular grocery store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have two favorite roast recipes!.!.!.

1!. Put the roast in, pour over a can of cream of mushroom soup, add about a tablespoon of beef bouillon!. Put the lid on and leave it alone 5-6 hrs!. I never add water, it makes enough of it's own juice!.

2!. For a spicier roast, I pour a jar of Pepperoncini peppers over the roast!. Juice and all!. Put the lid on and leave it alone 5-6 hrs!. This is WONDERFUL shredded and served on tortillas with sour cream!.

When cooking a roast, it will go through a couple of phases before it's ready!. Once it gets about 4 hrs or so into the process, it will turn harder and less impressive, but if you let it keep cooking, it will turn tender and delicious!. IMPORTANT: If you select a good roast with a lot of marbeling in it, it will come out very tender and falling apart!. Don't obsess about the fat, this is one place it is necessary!.
