I usually make mine the night before and leave it on low all day, so it is ready when I get home!. what you could do if you don't have the time to "slow cook" it is make it on the stove the way you always do and keep it hot and serve it from the crock pot!. Either way everything is cooked when you but it in the crock pot you brown and drain the meat first and add everything else so it will be cooked it will just taste better the longer you let it slow cook!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The great thing about crock pots is that you can put in a forget about!. I have 3 and use them at least twice a week!. I have made chili before!. If you want it for lunch put it on the night before on low and it will be ready for lunch!. For super put it on in the morning and by dinner it will be ready!. I have never used high for chili just low!.!.!.!.!.!.make sure your meat is browned if you have any in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

9 hours on high seems a bit much!. If you are using the crock pot during the day and you will be gone say 8 - 10 hours, generally that is plenty of time!. If time permits, I recommend cooking on low, then when you get home you can finish on high heat if needed!.,Www@FoodAQ@Com

It should take about 8 hours on high in the crock pot!.

Whenever I am making chili I start it on the stove and then i transfer it to my crock pot and it only takes about 4 hours to get done!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
