Beef Stew (less than 2 hours)?!
I wanted to make beef stew tonight!. Last night I seasoned store-bought stew meat!. Today, I went on several sights and found that beef stew on aveage takes about 6 hours to make! My mom used to make stew and I really don't remember if it took that long!. I am working until 5 tonight and have made no other plans for dinner!. Are there any simple, easy recipes for Beef Stew!? I don't mind using canned veggies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You cuold put this in a slow cooker before you leave, but you may have already left for work!.
Longer time is better of course but you couod make a decent stew in 2 hours!.
Here is my recipe:]
Basic Stew:
1 pound stew meat
1 or 2 carrots peeled and cut into big chunks
1 or 2 ribs of celery cut into big chunks
1 onion chopped
1 large white potato or 2 medium potatoes peeled and chopped
1 clove garlic chopped
1 can stewed tomatoes
Oil
Flour
Seasonings such as seasoned salt, granulated garlic, pepper, celery salt, onion powder and a few bay leaves
In a large skillet heat the oil!.
In a zipper seal bag add flour and all the seasoning to taste-except bay leaves!. You want to season it kinda heavily because it will basically season your whole stew!.
Toss the meat into the bag of flour and coat well!. Add the meat to the oil, adding a little extra flour!.
Meanwhile add all veggies and bay leaf to a soup or crock pot!. Add the meat when it is done frying, add all the flour drippings as well!.
Simmer on low heat until the meat and veggies are tender!. Adding more water or seasonings as needed!. Stir from time to time as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use a pressure cooker!. If you can find anyone who knows how to do this, it saves time and energy and you can have a wonderful meal in less than 1/2 the time it takes you to cook the conventional way!.
I love my pressure cooker!. I can get home and cook a beef roast in about 1 hour instead of 3 or 4 on the stove or in the oven!. It's great to learn to cook in one!.
I can also make a beef stew in about an hour on the stove top, but to get the meat very tender, I use the pressure cooker!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
