Southern Fired Chicken?!

Question: Southern Fired Chicken!?
A family friend taught us how to make southern fried chicken (like the Americans so) however for some reason I just can't get the flavours to stick to the chicken!. here are my steps:

wash the chicken piece's in vinegar, lemon and water!.
Place the piece's into seasoned flour (salt, pepper, paprika)
dip them in full cream milk and then again in the seasoned flour
and then deep fried in peanut oil!.!.

Is my process wrong can someone please help me with this as the family friend does not like repeating herself esp about her food!.LOL

Any advice would be muchly appreciatedd!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
use flour, with garlic powder, salt and pepper!. I also use full cream milk with one egg!. dip the chicken in the milk, then the flour, then the milk again, then the flour again!. you should also use the chicken grease to make a really good white, southern style gravy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't wash it in vinegar and lemon!. Just rinse it with water to get the excess blood off, dip it in butter milk with an egg beat into it, then dip it in the flour and seasoning mixture, then deep fry!. I think where you using vinegar it's not letting the flour stick!. I would try it this way and if it doesn't work then just mess around and tweak the recipe until you figure out how you get it just right!.

Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

your recipe is a good one one tip that you can try is to dip your chicken in an egg was before dipping it in the flour to make the flour stick to itWww@FoodAQ@Com

Never had to wash the chicken in vinegar or lemon!. Just plain water!.
It could help using an iron skillet!.
also an egg in the milk could help!.
Peanut oil is great!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
