I have taught two of my friends to cook, they would either burn or over cook something, over spice or under spice!. I recommend going to a site such as allrecipes!.com or recipezaar!.com and try recipes that have been rated more than at least 10 times!. Follow the recipe exactly and then once you try it you can adjust according to your taste!. Remember to always measure spices especially if they contact salt or pepper!. If you want, email me with some things you have made, and what went wrong with them!. I might be able to give you techniques or email you good recipes that I have made!. I do this with my friend all the time to the point where I usually plan her dinners most nights!.

Happy cooking!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Certain "foods" go better w/ certain spices!. Like Pumpkin always taste great w/ a lil nutmeg and or Cinnamon!.!. And fish seems to taste better w/ lemon!. If you do some research on those types of things, and cooking procedures, Like how long to bake fish, so as to not OVER cook it!.!. Fish really cooks fast!. Things like that would help you!. Maybe open your cook book and begin to read about methods of cooking like frying, poaching, brazing, etc!.
There is also some multi seasoning that are already mixed for you!. I like "natures seasoning" It is well balanced and not over salty!. I'm not one to measure too often unless its baking, this is why i don't enjoy baking!. Im a taster! Try tasting your Sauce, gravy etc!. as you go!.!. this way as you learn what goes well with certain things you can maybe try a lil of this that to it!. If all else fails ask family for some great receipts that are tried and true!.!. And follow them to the letter!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use recipes to get a feel for how things come together to make a dish!.

Read the entire recipe before you begin!.

Make sure you have all of the ingredients on hand and that they are the ingredients listed in the recipe!.

Make sure you have the proper measuring cups and spoons, pots and pans!.

Make sure your oven is set at the proper temperature and that you have the nobs on your stove turned to the correct settings (low, medium or medium-high)!.

Follow cooking times (make sure you have an accurate timer)!.

Once you've been cooking recipes for a while and can make a few dishes, you might want to try to experiment with flavors, but to always ensure your cooking is correct, follow the recipes to the letter!.

in the hispanic culture we have the belief of sazon!.!.!.what this means is that people who are born with sazon were born with the ability to cook and vice versa!. Now!. I'm not telling you this to discourage you because I love to cook too and I want to become a chef!.try going according to the recipe at first!.!.then as you cook it more times, you can add flavors, change condiments and whatnot!.!.but make sure you taste whatever you are going to add BEFORE you add it so you can get a feel of what it would taste like along with the rest of the recipe!.!.for example, i watched Giada D'Lorenttis make a tuna salad once and it went from Italian ingredients to more ingredients in my kitchen!. I changed it completely!.Good luck on trying to better your cooking!. ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try cooking it on a lower heat to start and turn it up as needed!. Same with spices and herbs!.!.!.!. Just put in a pinch, mix it in and taste test it!. If you don't think it's enough add another small amount!.

You could also look up or buy some easy recipe books!. I like Looney Spoons or Eat Shrink and Be Merry!.!.!. Healthy and easy!

I am not a cook either !.!.!. and I blame the fact that my mother never taught me to cook when I was growing up!. (Admittedly she wasn't much of a cook herself!.) So I find that I always have to use recipes !.!.!. and I always follow the recipes exactly!. (Except, if the recipe doesn't quite suit me after I cook it the first time, I will do a handwritten note in the margin saying "Add more salt" or "Add more sour cream" or the like!.) I am a big cookbook collector!. I can read a recipe and tell, #1, whether the ingredients are such that it will turn-out good and, #2, whether it is reasonably easy to make!. Everything always turns out good!. But I always joke with my friends that I "don't do heat"!. I throw tremendous parties with great food -- but most of the food is cold-stuff!. That's an exaggeration !.!.!. because I do cook stuff that requires heat !.!.!. but I find that the more I down-play my cooking ability the more my friends love the stuff I serve !.!.!. obviously because they're so impressed by the fact that I even knew where the kitchen was, much less that I was able to do anything in the kitchen at all!. Plus I think some of my women friends appreciate the fact that they can get all the glory for being good cooks and that I'm willing to take a back-seat in that category of life!. My attitude is that I'm an intelligent talented person in a lot of areas -- but cooking just isn't my thing!.

I can remember an evening several years ago when we had a bunch of people over to the house and my husband hollered out for me to "turn on the oven", because he had some kind of snack food that he wanted to heat-up!. I walked into the kitchen and looked around !.!.!. and I couldn't immediately remember where the oven was!. (In my kitchen, the stove-top and the oven are 2 different appliances!.) One of our guests happened to be watching me, and she just doubled-up with laughter !.!.!. she said, "You don't even know where the oven is!" I laughed with her and said, "Well, we don't use our oven very often!. You're right, I had to stop and think for a minute"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
