Frosting help... Too sweet... :(?!

Question: Frosting help!.!.!. Too sweet!.!.!. :(!?
I've made frosting for my cupcakes using this recipe :

2/3 cup softened butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-4 tablespoons half-and-half or milk

In a large bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy!. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating well!. Beat in vanilla and half-and-half, adding enough half-and-half for desired spreading consistency!.

But i cut down the powdered sugar to 2 cups!.!.!. But still, its too sweet!

Can anyone tell me how i can make it less sweet!?

btw, the consistency of the frosting that i've made is perfect for me!.!. So, if can, i don't want it to be change!.!.!. But just the sweetness!.!.

LESS SWEET,please!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
i dont think theres anything you could do about it!.

because frosting's main ingredient is ofcourse sugar!.

or add more butter to it and beat it more until its more fluffier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You cant really make it less sweet, especially without changing the consistency!. It may taste fine in contrast with the less sweet cake!. Other options would be to blend with some cream cheese, this would make it less sweet, but it would have that slightly tart cream cheesiness, I have a feeling you would much prefer that though!. Another option would be to add lemon juice, just a bit, to balance the sweetness!.!. if it makes it too runny, you would still have to add a bit more powdered sugar, but the tartness of the lemon will make it less cloyingly sweet!. This probably wouldnt go well with chocolate cake however, just white or yellow!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say it's probably the amount of powdered sugar you used!.!.!.that's a lot!. Eveything else looks fine!. Here's a good frosting recipe that you could try: http://www!.cooks!.com/rec/doc/0,1918,1531!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

use less sugar!. The butter content will keep it the right texture/spreadable!. Keep in mind too that the frosting will be going on another product and won't taste as sweet as a straight spoonful of it would be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Easy!. Cut the sweetness by adding some lemon juice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
