Is there a vanilla extract that doesn't contain alcohol in it?!
I like the flavor that the extract adds, but I'm not one to internally process
alcohol!.

Forget Whole Foods - they don't have anything of value there!.!.!.at least for people like me who are allergic to everything, like the alcohol they use to extract flavorings!.
Try either "Frontier" brand [found at many health food stores, if not they probably can get it] which has liquid flavors that are based on glycerin, or my favorite: Cook's Pure Vanilla Powder!.
For more information, call Cook Flavoring Company at 1 800 735-0545 or online at www!.cooksvanilla!.com They should be able to tell you where you can buy their product or how to get by mail!.
The imitation vanilla uses chemicals and wood to simulate the taste of vanilla; vanilla beans are possible, but you need to know how to use them!. As for the "minuscule" amount of vanilla used in a recipe, some of us really ARE that allergic to things; some of us just don't like the taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Using Cook's Vanilla for nearly a decade - due to extremely severe allergies; also former health educator!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You could try buying a vanilla pod!. It comes from a plant in the orchid family!. They come dried in packets at supermarkets or health food stores!.
Alcohol is used to extract the vanilla flavour to make the essence, so you would need to buy the dried pod before it has been processed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. Check Whole Foods and similar stores!.
I've gotten some there!. I avoid alcohol myself due to allergies!. Yes, I'd likely not notice the small amount, and most would cook out of things - but it adds up, and there's no reason to have an allergen around unnecessarily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The amount is so minuscule and when you bake it after the alcohol evaporates!. So unless you are drinking it right out of the bottle it is not going to be noticeable when you consume it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Vanilla extract actually has close to 30% alcohol!. If you are avoiding alcohol for religious reasons, use imitation or just use the bean!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The cheap fake ones don't have alcohol!. The alcohol in real extracts won't get you drunk or anything if that's what you're worried about, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Imitation vanilla!.
PS The alcohol in the vanilla will burn out anyway so you should not have a problem with it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
