mix these together
- 1/2 an onion - minced
- 1/2 tsp minced or chopped garlic(more or less to your taste)
- 1/4 of green (or red, yellow) bell pepper finely chopped

then decide what you're in the mood for:

teriaki!?
- add 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp ginger
- (optional) 1 tsp orange peel
- another 1/2 tsp garlic

spicy hot!?
- add 1/4 cup your fav hot sauce
- mince a hot pepper(your choice) and add
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 - 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 capful liquid smoke
- 2 tsp lemon or lime juice (or about 1/2 the juice from a lemon or lime)
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp parsley
- 1/2 tsp hungarian hot paprika (worth it, trust me)

spicy sweet!?
- add 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 capful liquid smoke
-1/4 - 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp lemon or lime juice
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp parsley
- 1/2 tsp sweet hungarian paprika (worth the money, trust me)

which ever one you decide on - this is enough for 2 - 4 average size rib eyes!. marinate them in this mix - best is overnight, but even for a little bit of time is ok!. Sometimes, if I can get a good deal on steaks, I will mix up a batch of all of these, put the steaks and the mix in freezer ziplock bags and throw them in the freezer 'til I want them!. They marinate when they defrost!. In any case, when you go to cook the steak (grilled is best, broiled in your oven is 2nd choice), save whatever marinade is left and put it in a pot to cook down while you are grilling the steaks, and you can use it as a sauce for them!.
also, if you don't want to go through all this trouble, you can always pick up a bottle of teriaki sauce, or various types of BBQ sauce and add to them - its cheating, but still good!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it's really good meat, adding anything except for freshly ground black pepper, chili pepper, or finely chopped fresh parsley is plain wrong!. Sacrilegious even!. Just barbecue it as is- you can't improve on nature!. Never cook good meat beyond medium rare!. It's a horrible waste of good meat!. The less cooked, the better!. It should just be singed on the outside and just warmed up on the inside!.

If the meat is high quality but lean, you could rub it with melted real butter or good olive oil and then barbecue it!.

If the meat is of lower quality, try marinating it in Italian salad dressing for a couple of hours!. Add some more freshly ground garlic if you want!.

If it's really low quality and tough, put meat tenderizer on it, punch all over on both sides with a fork to for the tenderizer in, let it sit about four hours, marinate it in Italian salad dressing, and then barbecue it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have a couple- Salt, pepper, and butter!. A rib eye steak has plenty of flavor so don't need much else!.
Another marinade is McCormicks Monterrey steak seasoning!. Mix it with some olive oil, and either teriyaki or soy sauce with some brown sugar and let it sit for a few hours- umm good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Throw a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice in a plastic bag with the steak in it for a couple of hours!. The acids in the lemon juice will make the meat more tender!. You can also try any sort of alcohol in it you would like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try some olive oil, garlic, and oregano, if you like some heat in your meat add your favorite hot sauce!. Let this sit overnight then before you grill/cook them add kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper to both sides of the steak!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My favorite is Dale's Seasoning!. You'll find it around the steak sauce in the grocery store!. It's pretty salty so you don't have to use a whole lot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I use garlic powder, ground pepper and smoke it on the grill with mesquite wood to give the meat a mesquite tasteWww@FoodAQ@Com

I always use Montreal Steak spice - it's also good with pork, chickenWww@FoodAQ@Com
