Question: Mixing food color to get bright purple!?
I am mixing icing for a cake and have put equal parts of red and blue food coloring to get purple, but it's more of a lavender!. I am wanting more of a deeper purple or a bright purple!. I have red, yellow, blue, and green food coloring; Christmas red, red red, kelly green, and leaf green in the wilton icing colors [to work with]!. thanks so much and God BlessWww@FoodAQ@Com

To make A deeper purple add more blue then red!.

To make Bright purple add more red then blue or just add white food coloring to the red and blue to make Bright purple!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ah, you should have used that gel food coloring!. or is it paste!? i'm not sure what they call it!.
it gives you a much more vibrant color!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The icing is making it lighter!. You just need to use more food coloring!. The same colors you've been using; blue and red!. Keep adding them slowy until you reach the desired color!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Add another drop of red, one at a time, until you get your desired color!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
