That brown spot is common when the egg has been over boiled!. It is not an indication that the egg is bad!. It usually indicates the spot where the egg touched the bottom of the pot!. Notice the shell is also stained at the point!. You either got a hold of a bad egg or you are allergic to them!. The best way to boil an egg is to start with cold water, gently drop the raw eggs in the water, bring to high boil, and turn the fire down to medium, let boil 10 minutes and not much longer than 12 or 15!. Over boiling eggs will cause the whites to be rubbery!.

The egg probably made you ill because it was starting to rot!. Probably because it had a slight crack in it's shell!. Could have been there for weeks!. Or it could have been dried chicken blood!. That's why I don't boil eggs in their shell!. I gently crack and open them into a dish!. Inspect!. Then Fry, scramble, or poach!. Good Luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
