V-Day Dinner Challenge--help!?!
I promised my boyfriend a romantic, light dinner for V-Day, and I have little $ and the following ingredients.
1litre heavy cream
flour
white sugar
lettuce
green beans, fresh
lots and lots of eggs
1litre homogenized milk
baking powder & soda
broccoli
carrots
chives
garlic
onions
seasoning
dark chocolate
cocoa
potatoes
cheddar cheese.
vanilla extract
I'm looking to make something gourmet looking. Ie. Middle of the plate, small portion, some sort of drizzle around it on the plate.
and a heavier dessert.
I can spend about another $10 dollars on top of what I have.
and it has to be vegetarian.
Ideas?
Thanks!

Frittata:- Carrot, Corn and Pea.
(by Dune 11/8/08)
?C. Carrots. (diced, cooked or frozen)
?C. Corn kernels. (cooked or frozen)
?C. Peas. (cooked or frozen)
6 Eggs.
S&P to taste.
Preheat the grill. (broiler)
Whisk the eggs together.
Place vegetables in a 300mm (12”) and start to heat and then pour over the eggs and let them run through the vegetables.
Season and let the bottom set.
Place under the grill until the eggs finish setting.
You may want to shield the handle.
Turn out and slice like a pizza.
How about a broccoli quiche with a roasted vegetable medley (potatoes, carrots and green beans)
and for dessert you can make a chocolate fondue
just melt 16 ounces of chocolate, with the heavy cream, mix it well and add a teaspoon of vanilla extract
buy strawberries to serve with it

you can use a crock pot as a fondue pot, or just cook everything over low heat in a regular saucepan
you could make a veggie stir fry! you could put rice in a circle around the rim of the plate and then drizzle teriyaki sauce all over! yum... for dessert, you could make brownies!
sorry i don't have any recipes, just ideas :)
