Meringue Powder substitution?!


Question: Meringue Powder substitution?
im making butter-cream icing and it calls for meringue powder. but i cant find any anywhere!

here's the recipe:

2 cup solid white vegetable shortening
2 teaspoon Wilton Flavor (Butter, Vanilla, or Almond)
4 tablespoons milk
2 pounds confectioners sugar
2 tablespoons Wilton Meringue Powder
A pinch of salt.

how much of what should i substitute for the meringue powder.

You can leave out the meringue powder altogether. Butter-cream icing can be made without meringue powder and still it turns out okay. There is a good butter-cream icing recipe on this website: http://www.homestyle-cookie-recipes.com/buttercream-icing-recipe.html.

As a substitue you can whip one egg white with a whisk til soft peaks foam and fold it into your finish product.
