I never use less than a gallon (4 quarts, or 16 cups0 when I cook pasta.

BTW, don't waste oil putting it in the water, it is a waste of oil. Just salt the water, and after the pasta is drained, stir in a couple of tablespoons of oil, that will keep the pasta from clumping together.

i would just fill a pan with water maybe like 4 or 5 cups it doesn't matter how much you have as long as there is enough to keep covered while boiling its better to have to much than not enough

just cook alot



At least a couple of quarts of water, with two tbsp of oil to prevent foaming & sticking.
