Can I use a silicone baking tray to cook pastry?!

Question: Can I use a silicone baking tray to cook pastry?
I need to buy a new baking tray to cook cake traybakes I know I can use a silicone ones for things like brownies but I also want to use it for things like bakewell slices with a pastry base. Will pastry be ok or does it need a proper metal tin. I read once that tins were better than glass dishes when baking pies.

Answers:

Whilst I love silicone for cakes and cookies I get a better result with pastry on a metal sheet.
