Betty Crocker cake mix- with pudding?!

Question: Betty Crocker cake mix- with pudding?
Okay...I wasn't really paying attention to the cake mix box when I bought it and picked up instant pudding to go in it. However, it says "as always: pudding in the mix" on the box.

Should I just forgot the instant pudding I bought or add it anyways?

How will it affect the cake?

Answers:

Omit the box of pudding.
If you add the extra budding the cake may end up being very dense and may sink in the center when cooling.
Save the pudding, next time buy a "generic" cake mix and add the pudding see if you can tell the difference.

If you add the pudding to the cake mix, it will change the cakes density and texture. You can however, us it as a filling. Mix the pudding with milk but omit about a 1/4 of a cup. This will give you a thicker mixture and will make an excellent filling.
If making a single layer, pour the pudding over the cake while the cake is hot and the pudding will be like a filler but on top. You can then frost over the top of the filling but if I do that, I would top it with sweetened whipped cream or frozen tub of whipped topping.
If making a 2 layer, put the pudding on top of one layer, then put the other on and frost as normal. You will only use about 1/2 the pudding.
Hope this will help. Good luck and have a great Valentines day.

From my own experience as a cook for over 50 years.

I think you can skip the instant pudding in the mix and bake the cake as it. Or make the pudding and serve over the cake instead of frosting it.

if you add the pudding it will make the cake more moist
