I want to make my boyfriend a 3 course meal tonight any ideas?!

Question: I want to make my boyfriend a 3 course meal tonight any ideas?
I would like it to include steak and prawns but I don't just want to do a prawn cocktail or salad because i've done that before. Also does anyone have any ideas for a steak dish that will look like i've put loads of effort into it rather than just frying up some steak.

All ideas welcome

Make a crying tiger steak it's really nice and for the prawns maybe you should just do something simple but then do a chocolate mosse for dessert

Cook your steak as you usually would - steak is steak - but then slice it thin and fan it out over top of a plated salad. Crumble some blue cheese over it and it's special. You can put your prawns on skewers, cooked them under the broiler or just in the oven, then lay a skewer of them alongside the plated steak salad. Some nice bread with a garlic/herb butter and you have a nice meal.

You could also do the steak and prawns both on skewers and serve those over a bed of rice (get a flavored rice mix like rice pilaf or long grain and wild rice) and then have your salad or veggies on the side. If you have a grill, do the veggies on skewers too and put the whole works on the grill.

You can also just jazz up your presentation. You know... like cook the steak and then arrange the prawns on top in a heart shape... something like that.

My husband fixed our Valentine's Day dinner the first year we were together. He got different sizes of heart shaped cookie cutters and cut everything into hearts. The herb butter for the top of the steak, the red peppers in the salad, the cucumber slices, everything was heart shaped - lol

A good marinade can really make a steak. I really wish I remembered the name of the military chef who came up with this one, because he used it on a poor cut of meat and beat (in a a taste test) a number of big-name chefs. Anyhow, it's really easy; you use Coke for your base (you'll need to judge how much based upon your container and the size of the steaks, but make sure that they're nicely submerged). Cut an orange in half and place the half peels (you can eat the fruit if you like as it has no use here) waxy side down (so that they make little floating 'cups') into your marinade. Be absolutely certain that the 'white' part of the peel never touches your marinade as it will sap up a lot of the flavour and ruin it. Next, add some soy sauce, about a tablespoon full for each can of Coke that you use. Next, smash a ginger root and stick it in (isn't this fun?!?) That's it! Leave your steaks in this for 3-4 hours and you'll have some really tasty meat!
Now if you'd like a good appetizer, here's where your prawns come in, and again, REALLY SIMPLE. Buy some bacon, wrap your prawns in bacon. BBQ these (with toothpicks through them to keep the bacon on) or bake them. if he's a garlic fan, these are particularly good if you add a bit of garlic salt to the prawn before you wrap them (though we're getting further and further from an even remotely healthy meal here...)

An alternative to the bacon prawn is a really neat idea that a friend of mine made for me once. Get a kiwi, a MacIntosh apple and a couple of strawberries. Cut the kiwis and strawberries up into really small cubes, and when I say really small, I mean REALLY small, like one millimeter and then mix them together in a bowl. Cut the apple just as thin, but longer, so that you can kind of see that it's apple, maybe half an inch in length or so, but still thin. Use saltine crackers (or something similarly crunchy and weak in flavour), put a thin slice of medium cheddar (or another medium cheese, don't use anything too strong or it will overpower everything) put a thin apple slice or two on top of the cheese, then your bits and finally a shrimp on top. I'm not sure whether or not you'd like to add a small mint leaf to the top, it was a nice flavour, but I liked it both with and without. Honestly, it takes like 15 minutes to make them and they're delicious.
