Do Canned Anchovies have a best before date?!

Question: Do Canned Anchovies have a best before date?
I bought Anchovies a WHILE back and ended up not using them. They've been sitting in my fridge since. I just spotted a new recipe and it called for anchovies. I'm wondering since they're canned are they still good? Or should I plan on picking up a new can at the shops?

Answers:

canned foods have "freshness" dates on them, NOT expiriation dates
this is a way for companies and stores to move old product
anchivoes freshness date is usually something like 2+ years... but people find canned foods that are 100 years old and are still completely edible

Anchovies are usually stored in oil, it should be okay, but remember not to ever put canned goods on top to a fridge. Dates as someone else mentioned is for stores not date to be consumed.
If you do not eat them ? I will ! ;-)

If they've been in the fridge all this time unopened, then they should be good. If they've been in there opened, then toss them.

depends on what you mean by "a while". There should be an expiration date on there somewhere.

They'll be fine, as long as you've not opened them - otherwise I'd get a new can : )
