Question: When do you add oil/butter to rice? at the beginning when boiling the rice? or when the rice is cooked?
when do you add seasoning and oil/butter to the rice?

Answers:

you should season the water you cook the rice in.
According to Alton Brown from the "Good Eats" show, rice does not absorb any flavors after it is cooked so no matter what you put on it after it is cooked, it will be bland and tasteless.
I use what ever broth is appropriate for my dish when I cook rice, chicken broth for chicken flavored dishes, beef for beef, etc.
When it is a side dish, I saute onions, carrots, celery and garlic in a bit of butter until very brown, then I add the rice and broth, salt and pepper to taste and cook till tender. It is very good and really doesn't need anything to make it taste good.

You will never get rice properly seasoned unless you season it before you add the water.

Perfect rice

Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons red pepper flakes, optional
1 cup white rice
2 cups fresh cold water

Method
Heat a large sauce pan over high heat for 2 minutes. Add the oil and heat for another minute. Add the salt and count to 10. Add the rice and stir to coat with the oil and the salt. Continue to toast the rice for 2 minutes. Carefully add the water (it will sputter but die down quickly) and stir.

Place a square of foil on the sauce pan and then secure the lid. Bring the rice to the boil then turn the heat to the lowest setting. Set a timer for 15 minutes. Remove the pan from the burner and set the timer for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

i would try frying the rice in oil or butter before cooking.

add some butter(about a stick of butter for two cups of rice)
fry the rice until white in the butter once its fried add alil chopped onions and alil chop garlic.

add some powder chicken stalk to taste and some water until it covers to inches hihg over the rice cover, boil nad when the water is reduced turn off and leave covered for about 10 minutes

and walla

when it is fully cooked and done. you want the rice to be fluffy and not everyone likes butter on their rice so if you are serving this for dinner leave the seasoning up to the ppl at the table.

You add butter to a preheated pan. Adding butter makes the rice have a little more flavor. You add the uncooked rice, browning it slightly and then add the liquid.

why do you need to add butter to rice? never done that myself.. in all these years.

nor oil, nor salt. isn't rice fattening enough?

Firstly u add oil in rice pan and then add rice. It will make rice tasties n non sticky.

I never add oil or butter to my rice but I do put salt in it before it starts boiling.

You add butter when the rice is already cooked.
