Question: Can i bake a steak to make it tender?
i want to make a steak tonight for my bf. i dont usually cook steak so i want to know if i can bake it to make it come out really tender and soft. i dont have a grill only a stove and oven. what is a good way what temp for how long. what is something i could flavor it with or some sides. thanks in advance.

No, baking will dry it out.

Lookup recipes for BROILING steak. You may want to try putting it in a "marinade" for a while before broiling.

Lastly, remember that tender cuts of beef usually have less flavor than the less-tender cuts, so it's a tradeoff.



This is how to make a good steak.

Start with a decent piece of meat, A rib eye is pretty good.

Season the meat with salt and pepper. The very most you should put on it is a Montreal type steak seasoning. I like to stick mine back in the fridge for a bit.

Then remove from the fridge about 30 min before you cook it. YES, it is safe. This allows the meat to come to room temp so you don't shock the meat as much when you put it on the hot surface. Shocking the meat to much may make it tough.

From here you have a couple of options:

1. Heat a skillet up good and hot then add some fat. Oil, butter (is okay), or even bacon fat. Put the steak down and do not touch it. The meat is pretty cool. It will release from the pan when it has a nice golden brown color to it. Then flip. Brown it up on the second and side and reduce the heat if you want it cooked further.

2. Brown on both sides as stated above but then slide into the broiler if you skillet if oven safe use that, if not then put it in a broiler pan. And finish under the broiler.

3. Grill over a medium-ish hot indirect heat.

Remember a few more tips:

1. NEVER overcook a steak. Anything over medium is over cooking your steak and even medium is pushing the limits a bit. A weel done steak is a ruined steak and you may as well just toss your money in the trash.

2. Let the steak rest so that the stea will still be juicy from the first bite to the last bite.

3. Don't forget about carry over cooking, as the steak rests. Due to residual heat in the meatthe steak will cook a bit more as it rests.

I know that someone will say that you shouldn’t add salt before cooking bacuase it will dry it out. That is not true. I have always salted my steak and roasts before cooking and never had anything dry. Adding salt before cooking does Not dry it out but rather gives good flavor.



Here is one option put skillet on stove lightly oil with virgin olive oil or even butter both sides of a steak turn the stove in high once skillet is warm enough to evaporate a drop of water in secs place steak on sear both sides about 5minutes on each side should be brown black pepper garlic seasoning on both sides place skillet in stove 450 degrees flip steak twice every 8 minutes each side after this in another 14minutes it should be done



Broiler. It is quicker than baking and if cooked the right amount of time it will be juicy and delicious. I usually do 350 for 15 mins depending on the size of the steak. Don't over cook it though because then it will be tough. Just poke it with a fork after 15 mins and depending also on how you like it cooked (medium, rare, well done...)



Sear the outsides of meat on Med-HIGH 3-4MINS each side(depends on thickness of meat). Then put some beef broth, wosteschire sauce, seasonings. 1/2 inch broth. Put steak in, put foil over top. Bake(steaming/braising) 325. Till desired level of doness. Turn oven off when done..let continue to braise until ready to serve and add a lil cornstarch or flour to ur broth, slat pepper and make a light gravy!

Under the broiler...takes just minutes... it depends on how you like your steak...and the thickness..about 7 minutes on the first side and 3 minutes on the other side...that is for medium...

Set oven on Broil......

Salt & pepper to taste. along with corn on the cob and a baked potato... with a green salad..
