i am making creme brulee but do not have a sieve. what else can i use?!

If you don't have a strainer of any kind, then whisk the mixture very well to ensure there are no lumps.
I usually do but I have done it without filtering it. The concern is the those little pieces of egg connective tissue that hang off the yolk. I always pick them out with a spoon before I even start.
If you don't have a filter, just pick those pieces out and you should be fine.

Just don't heat the egg too hot and it wont split. You shouldn't get lumps.
