This is a great cookbook written by a young lady about your age. Ellen, is a Dietitian so her cookbook is loaded with 'healthy' recipes and easy ones, as well. There are also great tips to help you in the kitchen included in the cookbook. I own it and refer to many, many times!
Hope this is helpful for you. Have fun and "Happy Cooking!"

I put the link for the cookbook below, and the website address is:

It is hard to recommend one specific cookbook when you didn't say what country you live in.

I'm sure some of the answers will recommend their own recipe web sites or books, which may not be suitable for you.

My best suggestion is for you to go to a book store or Library when you have time and browse through the cookbooks. Choose a book that strikes a balance between recipes you think are achievable and one that can teach you something about technics and the equipment (pots and pans) to buy. If you borrowed a book from the Library (which sadly) is going out of fashion you can
"try before you buy".

In the long run it is technic you need to learn more than recipes off by heart. Over time as your technic improves you will be able to rustle dinner up without a cookbook.

Another good tip is when food shopping be flexible, go to the store with 2-3 recipe ideas then make your choice based on how fresh the ingredients are.

My final tip is in every family there is usually at least one good cook, a grandma, a sister or aunt.
Next time your visiting them offer to help and you might just learn their best dishes.
