What are one-time cooking classes like? What kind of people attend them?!
Have you ever been to one of these one-time cooking classes where they show you how to make a specific dish? Do mostly couples go? Or will its not be unusual for me to go alone? Will everyone else be older?
I'm just a little apprehensive about going alone :/
I have the option of telling him I want a different gift, but I don't want to hurt his feelings.

actually, it depends where you live. I live near a University so a lot of college kids attend them, as well as first daters and older couples. I went to a few where I used to live (I got in free because I was tthe assistant) and there were several people there alone... 2 people ended up leaving together and I saw them at the bar the next weekend! they are fun, if you love to cook like I do. why desn't your bf want to go, too? how cute would that be- y'all cooking together!
Cooking classes are fun ..........
You can meet new people, learn a few things. Have a open mind.
I am taking a 6 week (one afternoon each week) in a city that Im here for about 6mo. This will be week 3 for me. Its been alot of fun.
Some come in couples , and some come with just a friend. And some come by them self.
I used to assist the chef at a cooking school just as you describe and in my experience, it is attended by couples and they are typically older but don't let that discourage you.
You will usually be given a 3 course menu to prepare and they will teach you to make the recipes, but also the techniques that are used for each that can be applied to other areas of cooking (like the proper way to saute, or folding a batter for a cake). I had a great time with them and everyone did too.
Go, enjoy, learn and don't worry about who's with whom or how old they are.
