Does New York cheesecake have digestive biscuit as the base?!

Question: Does New York cheesecake have digestive biscuit as the base?
Here in Britain the supermarkets, like Sainsbury and Tesco, sell a New York cheesecake, the base of which is digestive biscuit, but I thought digestive biscuit was only popular in England.

Answers:

No Friend, a NY Style Cheesecake uses buttery Soft Shortbread crusts, as a base to used as NY Cheesecake. You will find these at any NY Deli in the Big Apple. besides for Junior's, they used a sponge cake bottom for their Cheesecakes, it's different but tastes wonderful and so creamy

This is a picture of how a Shortbread crust, would look like on NY Style Cheesecake, from the Famous Carnegie Deli in NYC..

in britain, digestive biscuits are used as a substitute for graham crackers. graham crackers are traditionally used to make the graham cracker crust for new york style cheese cake. they would def. be interchangeable for this recipe. they probably make those cakes locally.

I have only had cheesecake with graham cracker crusts. So they shouldn't be calling it New York Cheesecake.
