Brown bag lunches?? Help with them..?!

Question: Brown bag lunches?? Help with them..?
Okay, so my school's lunches pretty much suck. And I wanted to bring some snacks that are healthy... like fresh fruit or maybe even half a sandwich. But, the problem, I only want to bring a little, but keep it cool. And not have to buy a huge lunch box. I have access to brown bags of course... But how could I put one of those little freeze packs to keep it cold, without it soaking through the bag? And any other good snack ideas???

If you drink water or juice freeze it and use it for an ice bag. You can fill it halfway full and freeze it and then add water in the morning if you want cold water to drink or do the same with juice. The water will be cold at noon and the ice almost gone, but meanwhile it will keep your lunch cool. Put your bag in a Ziploc plastic bag to catch the moisture so your lunch doesn't get wet. They have insulated lunch bags at the dollar store or department stores that would work fine, and would keep your food fresher.

I used the freezing the drink trick for my son's lunches when he went to school. I used the drinking boxes and froze them a couple of them went in his lunch every day--which is another option. They do need to go into a plastic bag though because they sweat.

The dollar store also has small containers too. Use them to hold cheese and or crackers. Cut up fruit with peanut butter on the side for dipping. Cut up veggies--you can make a dip by adding onion soup mix or a finely diced dill pickle to plain yogurt. You can add yogurt with fruit or a hard boiled egg or sandwiches. A thermos would let you take things like soup. Use your imagination and there are lots of healthy options for lunches

You might like to try a bento box for your lunches. They're smaller than carrying a brown bag ( usually), and give you room to pack some really different things for lunches. They have one tier ones, two tier ones, and even bigger boxes. You could probably put a small icepack in a bottom compartment too.
