Question: I thought cantelope was an ANIMAL!!!!?
I always thought that a cantelope was the animal with the horns that live in like new mexico and arizona and stuff, but i was shopping at the Piggly Wiggly yesterday and i saw they had cantelope meat on sale, so i was like ya, sure i'll try it. First off, it's spelled CANTALOUPE and it is a melon fruit. Cucumis melo, and the animal is Antelope is a term referring to many even-toed ungulate species found all over the world in places such as Africa, Asia, and North America. The term refers to a ‘miscellaneous’ group within the family encompassing the old-world species which are not cattle, sheep, buffalo, bison, or goats. A group of antelope is called a herd.[1]

The pronghorn antelope of North America is not a member of the family Bovidae, but the family Antilocapridae and not a true antelope. No antelope species are native to the Americas. True antelope have horns which are unbranched and never shed, while Pronghorns have branching horns, and shed annually

the antelope is an animal. the cantelope is a fruit XD

The cantelope was named when a father caught his daughters suitor putting a ladder up to her window and bashed him in the head with an orange fleshed melon. Can't elope.
