Question: Can I use Olive oil instead of Vegetable Oil?
I'm making pancakes and I seem to not have any vegetable oil. And is it okay to use olive oil instead?

You could but it will have a off putting taste. You could melt some butter instead and get a much better tasting pancake.



I would rather use melted butter instead of olive oil.

The olive oil will make the pancakes taste like olive oil - which might be a good thing if you're making savory pancakes with some herbs inside.

Vegetable oil doesn't have much of a taste which is why it's used for baking cookies or pancakes.

But it cannot take high temps, like deep frying.
