I have been baking cakes for 30 years and have used dozens and dozens of recipes, I have never even heard of putting glycerine in a cake. The very main thing to make a moist cake is to not over bake the cake. I have a very plain one bowl yellow cake recipe which I use a lot and as long as I don't over bake it the cake is always very moist. My favorite cake recipe is a coconut cake which uses cream of coconut in it and it is really moist but it would be dry if I over baked it. I also have a chocolate cake recipe which is very moist and the liquid in that cake is ice water, again over baking would make it dry.
I always add a cup of pudding. If u do a vanilla cake then add vanilla pudding so and so forth. Hope it helps!
