Heavy cream substitute in tiramisu?!

Question: Heavy cream substitute in tiramisu?
I want to make tiramisu cake using this recipe:
http://www.cookaz.com/Italian-Recipes/Black-And-White-Chocolate-Tiramisu-Recipe-352.aspx
but I want it to make a little less calorie since there is chocolate and cream cheese in it.. So would it be alright if I use plain yogurt instead of heavy cream?
Thank you :)

Answers:

I would not use yogurt. If you are looking to do away with some of the calories from fat, use low fat cream cheese, mix your heavy cream with 2% milk (50 - 50). If you change the heavy cream out for yogurt you will lose liquid and add a tartness that you may not like. I have also switched out flavored coffee mate (liquid) for heavy cream in some recipes. It adds the richness with out the fat.

sure!! use the yogurt and change the flavor of the tiramisu!!

Desserts are meant to be decadent!! Quit worrying about the calories or don't serve that kind of dessert. Serve instead fruit and cheese.

I cut the calories in half by serving half the normal serving sizes. 1/12th of the whole cake is supposedly a serving. If you cut cake into 24 parts, you cut the calories in half. The grams of carbohydrate too! I am diabetic and despise those "diabetic friendly desserts"..

Once you start substituting ingredients..you change the texture and flavor of your recipe...And using yogurt will make it have a tangy/tart taste...which I don't think you want in this dessert...

Hope this helps.....
