Use a whole cup of white sugar. If you have molasses you can add a tablespoon of molasses to a cup of white sugar to make brown sugar.

Mr. Turtle is right about stirring the molasses into the white sugar. If you don't have any molasses, just use the white sugar. They won't be quite as chewy because brown sugar is more moist than white sugar, and they'll have a slightly different flavor, but they'll still be good.

Or.. you can try this really simple recipe until you get to the store and get more brown sugar:

1 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 cup white sugar.

Mix all together well and place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper if you have it, if not, spray with non-stick spray, bake at 350o for 6-8 minutes.

If you don't use brown sugar the taste will be completely different...

i dont see shortening on the list, but you could use butter instead
u can use molasses or all white sugar
