How would I cook the salad shrimp?!

Question: How would I cook the salad shrimp?
I'm making an alfredo pasta with bacon, peas, and then salad shrimp (the super tiny shrimp). I have made this recipe before just without the salad shrimp...so how would I cook them? Should I make the noodles, mix the sauce, bacon, peas and the salad shrimp and let them cook that way? Or should I like saute them on the stove with butter and garlic? Any ideas?

Answers:

Shrimp cook in a very short time, so don't let them cook away. Heat a non stick saute pan until it is hot and then add some olive oil and the cook for 1-2 minutes. The add some unsalted butter and chopped garlic for the last couple of minutes. I presume you have parmesan cheese in the alfredo so you could also a little chopped fresh basil to both the garlic shrimp and the alfredo. this would tie the dishes together.

THe packages of salad shrimp I have purchased have all been pre-cooked. Check your package and make sure. If they are cooked, but add them (thawed) to your dish, mix and they will heat sufficiently that way. If they are raw, check your directions. Those little babies could overcook in a flash and you don't want that!

Shrimp don't need much cooking. You can just poach them in a little water.
Or sauté in a liitle oil, until they turn pink. Then remove the shells if still on.
If you cook them too long, they will turn tough; so cook separately.
So boil the noodles, fry the bacon, make the sauce, then add the shrimp.

They cook really fast, no need to do them separate. You can drop them into the pasta water during the last few minutes of cooking until they turn pink - drain and rinse with the pasta then sauce and add the rest.
