Should I cut the fat off chicken before cooking in the crock pot?!

Question: Should I cut the fat off chicken before cooking in the crock pot?
I'm going to be making chicken and dumplings and usually I do cut the fat off the chicken breasts but I don't feel like doing it this time. Wouldn't it just float to the top when I cook it for hours?

It takes seconds. o.O

Do you mean the skin? If so, the fat from it should float to the top in rendered form. If you then have time to chill the broth/sauce, it will congeal and you can then take it off in solid form. Or you could skim it warm or use ice cubes wrapped in cheesecloth which can congeal it to the cloth. If you mean the little bit of fat that clings to the breast, I think it's up to you, but seems a little anal to me.

It's your choice, you can remove it first, or skim it off afterwards.
Some fat is needed for your diet, some fat will improve flavour.
You can chill the stew briefly to solidify the fat.

Please trim the fat, It might float to the top or it might stay connected to the meat. either way its gross to eat and worth taking the time to cut off

Never the crockpot adds great flavor from the skin!
