not really. They need to be airtight.
Get a ziploc bag and put the foil cakes in there and press out all the air, or get cling film and make sure they're wrapped tight. Air will kill them.

Whatever prevents oxygen and bacteria from reaching the cake will help it keep fresh the longest.

Personally, I'd use plastic wrap because of how it sticks to the plate and you can almost guarantee that it is air-tight. Tin foil will work too, but it's easier for there to be gaps between the dish and the foil, allowing oxygen to enter.

Putting it in the fridge will keep the temperature cool enough so that bacteria doesn't begin to grow.

In any case, a cake won't last much longer than 5-6 days no matter what you do. But if you leave it uncovered and at room temperature, I wouldn't expect it to last much longer than 2 (if that).

You can wrap them in foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate them to keep them fresher

It will slow down the staling process; it won't stop it. Be sure to put the cake in the fridge too.

There are plastic air tight containers just for cakes that are worth the investment. Yes, foil will help.
