Cooking Mushrooms plz help?!
Answers:
If you slice them and put a bit of butter in a pan wait for it to melt and then add them in till they go golden then add a pinch of salt and pepper they taste soooo nice like that :)
I do it my self
sorry - -
more the 92% of the mushroom IS water - ! !
Mostly fiber is left - - some (tiny amount of minerals) are lost (but 'far' more than your body needs remain)
YOU heat it up while cooking -?- - the water expands - - rather simple ? right ? it must go someplace
Now - - where are you going with this - ? frying ? roasting - B.B.Q. ing ?
Each will change the mushroom in a different way - but the excess water will escape somehow
OK - my opinion - never use butter from the fridge - the milk solids BURN - Use clarified butter or one of the butter flavored spices - Crisco makes a fine substitute
Yes (if) you fry them - water appears - but will form a carmel to add flavor - IF you boil them they will shrink in size - but add flavor to the boiling water - bake - it will drip into the carmel you make into gravy - BBQ ? drips into the fire very pleasant aroma
good luck
I hope this expands your mind
Mushrooms release juice when you cook them, so the 'water'y sauce you're thinking of might just be that. But what I like to do is saute them in butter and drizzle them with white wine too - and plenty of black pepper and a pinch of salt of course. Depending on what else you're serving, you might like to add a pinch of thyme too.
i echo JP
but do not add any salt until they are cooked
mushrooms need a bit of salt to bring out the flavour
but if you do it during cooking it will make all the water come out the mushrooms and make them soggy
mushrooms have a high water content
so season after cooking
Hi,
Mushrooms are best when sauteed in butter. They would go very nicely with steak if you just saute them in a heavy skillet until golden! If they are large, I would slice them into the size you prefer. Enjoy!
