I want to cook French food for my boyfriend, but don't know what. Suggestions?!

Question: I want to cook French food for my boyfriend, but don't know what. Suggestions?
I want to cook my boyfriend a French dinner but don't know where to start. I've always heard that authentic French food is sooo good, but the only French restaurant I've ever been to has been the one at the Grove in LA. The fried fish was heavy, greasy and bland. The only good thing was the French bread and the cheese fondue sauce for dipping the bread. Now, I've heard of escargot, but have no intention of eating or cooking snails. Can anyone give me some ideas for French recipes that will be delicious but not too weird, like snails?

I say you rethink the snail thing, they are amazing!!! hehe And super easy to make. Some good things to start with that are easy french dishes are things like croque monsieur, quiches, steak au poire, potatoes au gratin, savory and sweet crepes, etc. A website I found has some good ideas for french food is http://www.easy-french-food.com/ some french food is complicated and some is not. Sauces are very important, a burre blanc over fish is to die for, hollandaise is a beautiful thing over poached eggs and some bread or potatoes. I have to many ideas to give you recipes for all of these but just google the dishes and pick the recipe that you know you can handle. Bon Appetite!!

This Ratatouille recipe is really easy, just a lot of chopping, and a long baking time

It's not the easier recipe but probably the best known Chicken Cordon Blue. You can substitute the white wine with chicken broth if you want.
