Try not to use the words awesome and nutrients, in the same sentence, thanks. Now, on to your question. I my opinion, The only two ways to cook broccoli, is by either stir fry in a wok, or by steaming in a colander, where the steam from the boiling water comes up through the colander, but the broccoli isn't actually submerged in the water. Keep in mind as well, if the Broccoli still has it's bright green color, it should still have all it's nutrients. If it has turned a pale yellowish green color, it is pretty much useless, nutritionally speaking.
Edit: Sorry, didn't catch the part about no steamer. As long as you only put a little water in and watch them carefully, you should be okay. Broccoli was never meant to be cooked to death.
I think so. Any water that comes into contact with the broccoli is going to take out nutrients. What you could do is put some broccoli on a plate, wet a paper towel and put it next to or on top of the broccoli, and then microwave it. I've done it and it works pretty well. Something else you can try is getting some cheese cloth or something, put the broccoli on that, and hold the broccoli over some boiling water.
I think the best answer is to get a steamer basket. They're not very expensive (about $14) and if you steam broccoli in a steamer basket, you not only retain the nutrients, you also retain the pretty green color.
put a chicken cube into the water to make broth and make soup.
then you get all your vitamins.
