You should use the spaghetti type of noodles

You are going to want to use noodles that creamy sauces stick to. Mostaccioli works well, as do rigatoni, fettuccine, farfalle, ravioli, tortellini, small shells (I cannot remember the name), and fusilli. Penne can work well, too. Spaghetti is better for Bolognese and Marinara sauces.

I had to learn this because my husband is part Italian and loves his pasta. It comes in handy, though, because I went to cooking school and never learned how to do this.

Alfredo sauce is generally put on fettuccine, but in this case I would say any short pasta would be great, like the farfalle you were thinking of.

You can use any sort of pasta.
I like the shells because they hold the sauce well.

Penne.

Chef.

I personally would use a spinach fettucini with that. Great flavor combination.

i like the extra wide noodles i like the taste of pasta
