How long shall I boil potatoes?!

Question: How long shall I boil potatoes?
I'm making them with vegetables and I want to put them in the oven, but because they take a while to cook inside and vegetables take a short time to cook I figures I should boil the potatoes a bit then put them in the oven with vegetables, so how long should they boil ?

thanks

Answers:

They don't take any longer to cook than most vegetables...but if you do boil them first..just blanch them...it only takes 4 to 5 minutes..much better than the microwave...

Good luck........

how are you cooking the potatoes and Veges? are they with a roast? If so just put them all together and cook them.. Potatoes and Carrots take about the same time.also turnips too.. If you are roasting the potatoes just put it in the oven.. if you boil the potatoes before roasting they will take less time but must check the boil potatoes as they can get mushy if boil to long. good luck

If you want to have perfect potatoes, you have to boil them in a pot with water and a little bit salt. For better digestion you can add a teaspoonful of caraway. After about 20 min take a needle and prick the potatoe. If they are soft up to the middle - they are well. Then peel them.

I agree with the person above me - go totally by feel - when they're softened enough, take them out. The amount and thickness of the potatoes could vary so feel is your best bet.

or microwave them for a better texture. just poke a couple place through the skin and microwave for 5 minute or so then slice or dice and add to your other veggies. enjoy

They Should Boil For At Least 10 To 5 Mins.

Until done.

Don't boil them. Microwave them for about 5 min first.
