What is the purpose of pre-heating the oven, why not just throw the pizza in there while its heating up?!

Question: What is the purpose of pre-heating the oven, why not just throw the pizza in there while its heating up?
Answers:

I always put my stuff in the oven before it's all the way heated up, that way I only have to get up once.

how annoying is it to preheat the oven then go sit down and then have to get up again to put whatever you're making in the oven in the oven 5 minutes later.

When an oven is preheating, the temperature rises rapidly to get to the appropriate temperature. If you throw your pizza in the oven before it has reached the temperature that is desired, you will burn it. Be patient and wait the few minutes it takes to reach the temperature or you will ruin your pizza.

Ovens heat at different rates so to ensure everything is cooked thoroughly it is recommended you pre heat the oven so when the say cook for 20 mins or what ever time the companies know it should de cooked thoroughly and you won't get food poisoning.

Some ovens may take 2 minutes to heat others maybe 5 or more having a significant impact on the cooking time possibly resulting in under cooked food.

If you know how long your oven takes then it shouldn't be a problem.

I cook regularly and bake

Things bake faster in as hot oven than a cold one. It would be like cooking food in a cold pan instead of a heated one. I guess it doesn't matter much as long you just let the food cook longer in the oven; it's all about preference.

Yeah I don't know either. I just take the 2 minutes or whatever it takes to pre-heat and add it on to the time it takes to cook it.

That's what I do...no preheating for pizza necessary. Turns out fine every time.
