Can you use a clean kitchen cloth to hold spices (parsley stem, peppercorns, bayleaf etc.)?!

Question: Can you use a clean kitchen cloth to hold spices (parsley stem, peppercorns, bayleaf etc.)?
The flavor will still go through right?

Answers:

Yep, way back when, we used to use clean rags from old flour sacks and the like.

you bet. How do you think folks did that before that cute little metal spice ball was invented?
My mother used to save old pillow cases and sheets for all kinds of things like that.
People also use to buy cheese cloth to use for things like that as well.

If water can get through the material then you will have NO problem using kitchen cloth.I have used clean old pillowcases cut-up into big squares with strips of cloth cut to tie. This works fine too.

sure, use what you have, cheese cloth is soooooooooooo cheap,

I use cheese cloth, easier to clean!

if you have a clean knee high or a clean sock that will work also.
