I can see why you're asking ...but if the money on the rest of the ingredients isn't an issue ..why don't you just give it a shot and see what happens ...it might even bake a cake you prefer ..and if you don't like the result ..well you'll know the answer for yourself. . Bakewell tarts were created when somebody substituted ground almonds for flour by mistake ...and it's one of the best recipes in the world for me!
So my answer is give it a go and let us know!



NO it really can't it has to be plain flour or what you are making will rise and become light and often fluffy.
