Chorizo/Food poisoning HELPP?!

Question: Chorizo/Food poisoning HELPP?
I ate two slices of chorizo in my bread, using it like ham. It was uncooked and I have a flight tomorrow. What do i do????? Induce vomitting, take laxatives?? I'm screwed, thought i could eat it raw.

Answers:

There are many types of chorizo, but they all break down into two groups, cured or raw.

Many European varieties are cured as well as dried, and those can be eaten as is, uncooked, if wanted.

In the US, Meso-America, Caribbean, South America, Polynesia and Goa, the overwhelming majority of the supply is uncured, and these *must* be cooked prior to eating.

If you're not absolutely sure what type of chorizo you actually have, always err on the side of caution and only eat it once cooked.

If you ate it and have a tummy ache, you should try Tums...chorizo is usually very spicy and you could just be having a reaction to that.

If it's chorizo that comes ready sliced you can eat that raw (as it's cured). If it was hard chorizo you can eat that raw (this is also cured). If it's the kinda mushy chorizo that is actually most like sausage then you can't eat that raw but I doubt it would do much damage. Don't worry and definitely don't induce vomiting, if you haven't been sick naturally yet, I'd say your Ok.

Two slices probably wont do much. DO NOT take laxatives and do NOT induce vomiting.

WHY would you think you could east sausage raw, didn't the mushy texture set off an alarm in your head.

Drink plenty of water, eat some stomach calming foods such as bland foods. Rice, crackers etc...

On yoru flight make sure to drink plenty of water and if you stomach starts giving you issies ask for sprit/7-up or better yet ginger ale.

Also pack sme pepto bismal with you.

You will probably going to be ok, but the damage is done and there is nothing you can do about anything. The food will already be digested and absorbed so nature is going to take its toll. Vomiting will only make you feel sick, and if it is going to cause a problem that will make it only worse.

I suspect you are worrying unduly. There is no issue with eating all manner of food uncooked. The Japanese like raw fish. Unless you are feeling well and have a headache, I would not worry. If you are still worried try being sick.

I really doubt you have food poisoning...You might get a stomach ache..but that is all...And I seriously doubt that will happen...........

you might call you doctor and ask they could tell you over the phone i would think
