Moldy ginger root? Is it okay to use the inside?!

Question: Moldy ginger root? Is it okay to use the inside?
I was going to make some ginger tea, but the ginger root I have had some patches of green mold on the outside. I cut off the patches and the root inside looks and smells good! Can I eat/make tea with it?

No I don't think so. When picking a ginger root to use in general they always say pick a firm clean root with no soft spots. Mold is dangerous. I wouldn't use it at all.

Yes it's fine. I do it all the time. Salud!
