Question: Baking question-adding tapioca to pie?
when a recipe calls for 1/4 cup of instant tapioca, should it be made or should i just use the powder from the box?

No, you add it straight out of the box. I have found I get a better texture to my filling if I use powdered tapioca, also known as tapioca flour. You can find it in any Asian grocery store (your typical supermarket won't have it). If you can't find powdered, the instant tapioca you can get at your local supermarket will be just fine.



I think that means you should make it first them bake it into the pie (:
