Do onions have nutrional value? If so what are they high in?!

Question: Do onions have nutrional value? If so what are they high in?
I like onions but they seem to be more of a flavor enhancer than a real veggie. Most vegetables have a high concentration of a certain nutrient and I was curious to what onions were (besides bad breathe and stinky sweat).

Answers:

"They contain chemical compounds believed to have anti-inflammatory, anticholesterol, anticancer, and antioxidant properties such as quercetin. However, it has not been conclusively demonstrated that increased consumption of onions is directly linked to health benefits."

I ? onions on sandwiches. I say the more, the merrier!!! Red (purple really) onions are my favorite.

P.S. Over the years I found that if you run cold water on the onion before you cut it and continue to run cold water (to splash on your eyes when it becomes unbearable) you can reduce how teary-eyed you get.
