Please, what is giblet sauce?!


Question: Please, what is giblet sauce?
I am picking menu choices for my sweet 16 and one of the choices was Roast turkey with dressing and giblet sauce... what on earth is giblet sauce?

Answers:

It should be called giblet Gravy.

The giblets are the kidney, heart and liver of the bird, they are simmered with the neck thenthe broth is strained. Na dmeat is pulled off them kneck and the other parts are chopped small. They are then added to gravy.

It doesn't sound super appealing but it sure is Tasty and one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving etc...



This is giblet sauce......

Ingredients:

giblets from 1 turkey or chicken
4 cups cold water
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
2 cups pan drippings or chicken broth
1/2 cup milk or half and half
1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper
2 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
Preparation:

Remove liver from giblets and refrigerate. Place giblets in saucepan, cover with 4 cups cold water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about an hour. Now add the liver and simmer for another 30 minutes. Drain in a colander, allow to cool, chop and set aside. Melt butter in a heavy saucepan and stir in the flour. Cook and stir for 3 to 5 minutes, or until butter barely begins to turn golden. Slowly stir in drippings or chicken broth and milk or half and half. Continue cooking and stirring until thickened. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in hard-cooked eggs and chopped giblets and serve.
Makes 3 cups.



Gravy. It is made from the giblets (the inner organs of the turkey), which gives it a nice meaty taste.

This is how proper gravy is always made. The name might be unfamiliar to you, but the brown gravy that you will get should be very familiar.



Giblets are the internal organs which come packed inside the turkey.
I.e. Liver, kidneys, gizzard, etc.
These are boiled, diced, & added to the turkey fat & juices to make gravy.
Our family consider it delicious, just don't explain to people.



Giblet sauce is a sauce made with turkey guts. Turkey giblets are the heart, liver and gizzards. Gross to me, but lots of people like it.



Giblets are essentially offal- liver, kidney etc I presume the aside with be a stock then reduction flavoured by using the giblets
