Can I use one of these vinegars instead of cider?!

Question: Can I use one of these vinegars instead of cider?
I've a recipe that calls for cider vinegar but I only have white rice vinegar, red wine vinegar, and balsamic vinegar. Can I use one of these instead?

Answers:

Well different vinegars have different tastes...White vinegar could be a substitute..but you don't have that either...

I will say red wine vinegar...but it may alter the taste of the finished product..........

Good luck............

Vinegar has distinctive flavors, so anything different you use will result in a different-tasting result. Vinegar is so cheap you ought to just go out and pick up some cider vinegar and be done with it. The balsamic and red-wine vinegar are quite different, so I would avoid those, and that leaves only the white rice vinegar. You could always try it and see what happens.

depends on what the recipe is. Rice vinegar is most milder out of the other 3. But cider vinegar is a little bit sweeter. I would probably just go and get a thing of Cider because like the first answer vinegar isn't expensive and then you know your recipe will have the correct flavor.

It really depends on what it is for as they all have their own distinctive flavors.
