Meat Grinding/purchasing?!

Question: Meat Grinding/purchasing?
I recently bought a powerful meat grinder and have a vacuum sealer and chest freezer. I'm familiar with grinding things like chuck for burgers, or bottom round for general purpose ground beef. I have a few questions pretaining to which cuts of meat to get for other purposes...
1. What is a good price for chuck? On sale in jersey supermarkets it seems to be around 2.39 a pound.

2. How much can "bulk buys" save me. I'm unfamiliar with buthcher shops or wholesale meat stores. What are some options on large quantities of beef? A friend told me to get a "side of beef"...sounded like a big project but sounded very economical...

any help is much appreciated.

You better be snapping up that chuck at 2.39 as beef prices will be soaring soon

Best to look at local grocery stores on Monday and Tuesday mornings for meat that has been discounted for quick sale for the best prices - although you will rarely see chuck or round discounted because they also grind it up for hamburger

The price of meat sure sounds good to me in in Canada meat is more expensive, so grab what you can when you see those prices, I would not grind all the meat if I were you for the simple reason that you can only make so many recipes with ground meat in comparison to a whole piece ,that can be cubed, sliced, shaved, chopped. and last but not least ground, cuts of meat varies not only on the tenderness but also in prices, so whatever suits your household is totally up to you when making purchases, . Also keep in mind that you can only keep meat from 3 to 6 months in the freezer after that it either gets freezer burned or acquire a taste that I personally don't like , buying thing bulk is fine but only is there is a fast consumption of frozen items that includes vegetables and fruit alike. so if you like to buy bulk you must know how much your family eats ,some of us eat very little ,some moderate and some plenty ,then there are those that cook on occasions and eat out a lot ,to wrap it up ... we are all different what works for one might not work for another.
