Is sea bass really fishy?!

Question: Is sea bass really fishy?
Ive got a menu choice and the only thing on there I might like is sea bass. I like cod, smoked mackerel, cold tuna, is it like any of these?

Answers:

Well, good FRESH fish like Sea Bass, Cod, Salmon or Tuna should never taste or smell fishy. Good fish should smell like the sea, fresh and clean. Mackerel is a super oily fish so it almost always smells a little fishy... I really don't like it.

So my answer, no... sea bas is not fishy, unless it isn't fresh.

Good luck!

personally i find that the taste is not as overpowering as ppl say it is and if caught and cared for has the ability to take on the flavors that it is being cooked with like rosemary or lemon. i would try it for yourself but i would choose it on a menu

Not really. But, it is thick and can get tough if overcooked. It's not my favorite fish, but not because of the taste (the taste is fine) it's more the texture that I'm not a big fan of :-)

its got an acquired taste. I personally think its pretty fishy. Your best bet is to try it yourself. You should try everything once.

Whether it tastes fishy or not depends on how it was cared for after it was caught.

It has its own flavour, but it's not as strong as mackerel.

No it's quite strong and gave me hours of indigestion.

All fish is different in taste and it depends on how its cooked its a case of try it and see

Sea bass is not a really fishy fish, quite meaty and solid..if you like cod you will be ok!

No, it's delicious. I wish I could afford to buy it. It's more like trout than any of the others you have mentioned.
